You might have noticed that Chanel eyewear is only available in a select few retail outlets as Chanel pared back on their stockists a few seasons ago to ensure only the best opticians were stocking their full range and ensuring no last season stock were hanging around the shelves.
“There’s only a handful of Chanel stockists left in Northern Ireland but our customers have always loved their Chanel’s at EK Eyewear and we always make sure we only stock the current season frames so we’re delighted that we’ve been selected to be a Chanel stockist. And the frames really are beautiful,” says Eavan Kennedy.
“The shapes are very flattering and detail on the arms from the little Chanel bows, quilting and the double C logo ’boutons’ to the new tweed – it’s all very ‘Chanel’ and always referencing the current Chanel trends as well as their style heritage – they’re just gorgeous!”
Gabrielle Chanel was first introduced to Tweed during her relationship with the Duke of Westminster in the 1920’s. Coco was drawn to the authentic irregularity of this natural fabric and Tweed made its debut in her collections in 1924. It became a Chanel classic in the 50’s with the introduction of the iconic Tweed Suit.
Chanel’s head designer and creative Director Karl Lagerfeld continues this legacy, using Tweed in his current collections for the iconic brand. Lagerfeld holds the Chanel jacket is such high regard he even penned a book about it! ‘The Little Black Jacket”.
For the first time, real tweed from the Chanel atelier has been used in eyewear. The tweed and soft touch rubber temples have been put together without the use of glue or adhesive, but by using very high temperatures to preserve their natural properties therefore allowing each piece to be unique.
