Catherine McGuckin
Catherine McGuckin
Despite having not long left full-time education, Catherine has since furthered her knowledge completing many qualifications including the MECS (Minor Eye Conditions Service) qualification and a professional certificate in Medical Retina. Her newly obtained knowledge has come in handy day-to-day in the practice, when utilising our specialised equipment such as the OCT and Optos machines.
She cares deeply about building relationships with patients and providing them with the best care. Catherine adores some of our more eccentric frames, but to her dismay has yet to need spectacles!
Outside of work, when not studying, you will find her brunching around Belfast or spending time with her loud and large family!
Dolores Sherlock
Dolores Sherlock
In the mid 1990s she worked with a charity in Africa providing eye care to rural populations. In the last few years Dolores has embraced advanced technology. She is currently studying advanced medical retina at Moorfields/ UCL one of the first Optometrists in Northern Ireland to do so.
As someone who is a short-sighted glasses and contact lens wearer since the age of 12, she is enjoying learning more about recent advances in myopia management which can predict and may control levels of short-sightedness in the early to late teens.
Outside work, she has been lucky enough to travel the world, exploring 39 countries, with more to come. She loves food, wine, cats and swimming, though not all at once.
